2nd Year Bloggiversary

Image
Hey authors! Today, we celebrate two things. Firstly, after six months with only two posts to show for it, I'm finally back. It's been a long time, but I'm pumped and ready to go.  Secondly, and most importantly, it's Lizorae's 2nd birthday! While I've only been active for 1.5 years (my bad, lol), the site has aged and that's all that matters, right?  So here's what this year brought Lizorae and a yearly review. Let's get to!  Lizorae's Journey Vol II If last year was about figuring out the ropes and building writing muscle, this year was learning about mental health and writing.  In the middle of May, certain things happened that completely drained me. I decided to take an unannounced hiatus for a week or two to refuel, but life kept throwing more and more stuff that ultimately was more important than the blog.  Since the only profit I make from here so far is the satisfaction of writing, I only work on the blog during my leisure time. But with...

5th Week Update

Image
Hey authors! So much has happened in the two months since our last update. As I'm writing this, this post is almost seven weeks overdue. I'm going to be writing this as if this time gap never happened. Better late than never, right? Let's get to!    Updates  Life will become even more busy over the next month. New posts won't be published until two months later. Thank you for waiting! :) As life doesn't seem to want to stop throwing hurdles, you're probably going to see more Fandom Chat posts. They're going to be different from the ones I have done before. Instead of ranting, they're going to be more review-esque. I have a carefully planned starring system that works well in theory. Let's hope it holds out, lol.  That means less information centred posts and more opinion centred posts. It will be much easier on my mental health because they take less time to write. Hopefully you'll enjoy the new direction! Leave comments telling me what you th...

5th Week Update

Image
Hey, authors! Welcome to the first  5th Week Update  of 2021! It's been a solid four months. Life happened and writing posts became difficult. But I made it through! So let's get to! Milestones  Maybe this is not a milestone. But December's to January's posts seem super solid to me. Most of them, at least. It took me a few days to write them. A normal post is around 1000-1500 words. Some of them during those months reached above 2000. Yay to building writing muscle!  Pinterest has seen a pin redesign! It's something I've been talking about since the first 5WU post. Leave a comment below telling me what you think about it! 1 YEAR BLOGIVERSARY! How Blogging Changed My Life (cheesy, I know) + A Year In Review

Image
Hey authors! Today is a special day. You know why? It's Lizorae's first birthday! That's right. You heard me. Lizorae is one years old. *throws confetti* To celebrate, here's how blogging made me a better human organism and a yearly roundup.  Let's get to!    Lizorae's Journey  When I started blogging, I was a weak writer. You can see my first post here . It's awful. I cringe to think about it. Compare this to last week's post . Firstly, my latest post is longer. I'm usually not one to add fluff to my writing, so I know they are facts . (I hope. Please tell me what you  think!) But writing more  isn't the only thing. I'm writing over 1000 words in the same time it used to take me to write around 500. That's double the amount. My typing speed has stayed the same. What's different is how fast and how well I get into the zone. While I have long ways to go, it's an improvement that has made a world of difference outside blogging. ...

5th Week Update: END OF SPRING

Image
What's up, authors? Welcome to another 5th Week Update  and the end of spring . It wasn't too long ago when I celebrated this blog's first post along with Christmas. Time sure flies.  In this post, I'll be going through the usual updates. This "term" has been a pretty hectic one, so this should be fun. Especially today, since I've written three blog posts. Last week's, this week's and next week's.  Let's get to!  Milestones  I've taken my first break. In fact, I've taken my first three  breaks. Not sure if this is a milestone, but hey, who's stopping me from adding this? Saying goodbye to the TQM series. The last TQM post was  12 Quotes To Nurture Your Author Mindset (Part Two) . I have one more planned for next week. It's a completely new format, so you can be excited for it! I may post more like it, but it will be under the topic of Babble .  I started this series because I thought it would be easy. A break, sort of. Bo...

5th Week Update: END OF WINTER

Image
Hey authors! Welcome back to my 5th Week Update series! This is only the third post so far, but I've been enjoying writing these so much. I'm definitely going to be continuing this in the foreseeable future! Without further ado, let's get straight into it! Milestones  If you don't already know, I'm Aussie, so it's Winter over here as I type. Why am I bringing this up, you ask? Well, this post is the last one for Winter 2020. *applauds self for surviving another three months*  I'm actually typing this in advance, but when this goes up on my blog, I'll be celebrating with chocolates and watching a movie. We've got to take any chance to celebrate, amirite? This post is also the 37th post I've written. It's not a lot compared to other bloggers, but I'm still going to celebrate. I'm improving! Extra chocolate for moi!  For the last few posts I've written, I've made slight changes to how I do the title. I've caps locked importa...

5th Week Update

Image
Hey authors! It's another Fifth Week Update . Enough with the introduction, let's get straight into what's up the past three months. Milestones Finally, finally, finally. I think I've hit my stride with the posts. It's easier to just start writing and to keep writing. I've become one with the flow, my dudes.  Source: Giphy Blogging hasn't been a major challenge, but it was hard to start. Now, 27 posts later, my writing quantity has increased, I've become better at explaining and I write faster. (I hope.) Once again, I've changed my pin design. I'm still trying to find one that fits but I'm getting there. I've changed my formatting for the LFTM posts starting from  11 Lessons From John Flanagan's Writing . It's more book reviewy than before. Way easier to write too. :p New Posts Missed any posts from the last FWU ? Here's a list. Writing Is A Real Job! An Author's Purpose Lost Your Writing Voice? Fifth Week Update

Image
It's Lizorae's first fifth week of the month! For every fifth week, I'm going to share what's been going on with my blog and general updates. This is something I haven't seen any other writing bloggers do, but hey, let's break the system! I think doing these updates will help connecting with you guys because what's this blog for without you? If you're here just for the writing tips, I get you. But stick around for a bit because I'll get to the best posts so far. Milestones  On December 2019,  I set up Lizorae! I had no idea about branding or how to use social media or what the blogging biz is like. But I soon learnt. I'm still not an expert, but I'm definitely more confident. Since then, I've changed my branding an embarrassing three times. Within three months. And I'm probably going to change it again. I know it's not really the best way to go, but I'd rather do it know in the beginning than later. If I could go...
